Course

A USTF Certified Course through the streets of Jackson, Ohio. The start and finish are on the Apple Festival midway. The course is rolling with no major hills. In 2025 Justen Anderson of Wellston was first overall with a time of 19:22, Savanna Canter of Beaver was the first female with a time of 25:50 and Makya Mihoan of Pomeroy was the first walker with a time of 46:31.

Entry Fees

Advance Registration can be made at www.tristateracer.com with payment of $25.00 made from your credit card of choice through September 4th.  Go to this website and select Kiwanis Apple 5K Run/Walk.  Advance registration must be made prior to September 5th.  A $3.75 fee will be applied for on-line registrations to cover credit card payment, and processing. Late and raceday registartion at $30.00 after September 4th.  

Age Groups

Runners are divided into Youth and Adult Male and Adult Female age groups. Youth categories include ages 3-10, 11-14, and 15-19. Adult categories are 20-25, 26-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-59, 60-69, and 70 and older. For the youth age groups, trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female finishers. In the adult age groups, trophies will be given to the 1st place male and female runners, while ribbons will be awarded for 2nd and 3rd place finishers. Additionally, special awards will be presented to the First Male Runner and First Female Runner. 

Walkers are grouped into one Male and one Female category. The 1st place walker in each category will receive a trophy, and ribbons will be awarded to the 2nd and 3rd place finishers. There is also a special award for the Overall Walker, whether male or female. Walkers must walk the entire course; running is not permitted.

 

Awards

About the Kiwanis Club of Jackson Area

The race and walk event is organized and managed by the Kiwanis Club of Jackson Area. It is scheduled to take place during the annual Apple Festival week, a tradition in the community. The Jackson Apple Festival itself is hosted by the Jackson Area Festival & Events (JAFE).

Beneficiaries and Community Impact

All proceeds generated from the race and walk are dedicated to supporting the Kiwanis Club’s initiatives, including activities and scholarships that benefit the youth of Jackson County.

Charitable Programs Supported

The Jackson Area Kiwanis Club contributes to a variety of charitable programs within Jackson County. These include donations to the American Cancer Society, organizing the July 4th Family Fun Carnival in the Park, providing downtown flower baskets, and awarding scholarships to three high school seniors in the county. Additionally, the club sponsors three high school students to attend the Hugh O'Brien Youth Seminar and hosts a county-wide Easter Egg Hunt featuring more than 20,000 Easter eggs.
