Course

The Kingsford Allegheny Highlands Trail 20 Miler and Relay will take place on the Allegheny Highlands Trail running from Gilman, WV (just outside of Elkins, WV) to Mill Race Park in Parsons, WV. The trail is made of dirt, crushed stone and pavement. This is a point to point race course. Please join us for this exciting event in support of the Highlands Trail Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to trail development and maintenance in the Potomac Highlands of WV. The course will close at 2PM.

Entry Fees

Individual Entry Fees:

  • Before June 20, 2016 - $50 (Highland Trail Foundation Members $45)
  • After June 20, 2016 - $60 (Highland Trail Foundation Members $55)

Relay Teams (Up to Four runners):
Each person on the relay team must register individually and Create or Join the team during registration process.

  • $25/runner (Before 20 June)
  • $30/runner (After 20 June)

Awards:
Custom handmade mugs by MUD Ceramics, Thomas, WV, will be awarded to:

  • Overall top Male and Female finisher
  • Top 3 Male finishers in each age group (16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+)
  • Top 3 Female finishers in each age group (16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+)
     
  • First Place Overall Relay Team

The awards presentation will start around 2PM.

More Information

Packet pickup:
Race Day packet pickup will take place at the Mill Race Park in Parsons, WV from 6AM - 8AM. 

Race SWAG (Shirt guaranteed to all who pre-register):
Individual 20 Mile Event SWAG includes:
Performance long sleeve shirt (Gender & size): Female, S  M  L  XL  XXL
                                                                            Male, S  M  L  XL  XXL

Relay Team Event SWAG includes:
Performance short sleeve shirt (Unisex): S  M  L  XL  XXL 

Transportation/parking:
Tucker County schools will provide a race shuttle from the Mill Race Park, Parsons, WV to the starting line at the Highland Trail Foundation Trail Head in Gilman, WV.  Buses will leave for the starting line at 7:45AM and 8AM. Note: Each bus can carry 52 adults, so please plan accordingly. The bus ride will take approximately 30-35 mins. 


Relay Team of Four Transportation:
Each Relay Team is responsible for their own transportation. Runner 1 may be transported via shuttle bus with the other individual runners. Only one vehicle is needed. 

Based on Four runners. If your team has less than four runners, you will need to combine legs. 
Leg 1: Start to Mile 3.5 (Transition located at the Kerns HTF Trailhead) Total: 3.5 miles
Leg 2: Mile 3.5 to 13.5 (Transition located at the path/road intersection) Total: 10 miles
Leg 3: Mile 13.5 to 17.5 (Transition located behind the Citizens Bank 24 Hour ATM, Parsons) Total: 4 miles
Leg 4: Mile 17.5 to 20. Total: 2.5 miles

 

Bag drop off:
At this time we will not offer a pre-race bag check. 

 

Aid Stations/Restrooms:
Aid stations will be provided along the course. Stations will include water, Gatorade and various snacks. It is suggested that each runner carry water and fuel in addition to what the aid stations provide.
Aid station locations near Miles 3.5, 7.5, 10, 13.5, 15, 17.5.
 

Restrooms are located at the Mill Race Park, Parsons, WV. Portapotties will be provided at the start line and at two locations along the race course.

 

After Race Party:
Refreshments and snacks will be provided to the runners participating in the event.
