This is a chip-timed race that begins in the parking lot of Valley Park in Hurricane, West Virginia.  The route exits the park, turns left and proceeds to Sunnybrook Drive where runners will take another left and go approximately 1 kilometer until Sunnybrook intersects Old Delta 25.  Approximately 800 meters further, Old Delta intersects Beaumont Lane.  Turning left on Beaumont, the course then connects to the running trail at Valley Park.  The course follows this path and ends roughly 0.9 kilometers later. We may make some modifications to the route based on expected traffic patterns, law enforcement support, and weather, so check back often.  

The Color Run follows the same basic route, but turns back into the park earlier.  There will be road guards stationed at every intersection to make sure no one gets lost.

Entry Fees

Early-Bird registration opens on Wednesday, January 13th at www.standwatch.org for $20 a person.  Regular registration begins February 15th for $25. All proceeds will go to provide free healthcare to veterans.

Awards

Each participant will receive a race t-shirt and a special commemorative dog tag that celebrates the service of an individual from West Virginia who has served in the armed forces.

StandWatch.org is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide medical care and family support services to veterans and their families in places where the Veterans Administration has limited presence. Over 300,000 veterans have died waiting for care.  We want to stop these tragedies.

UPDATE: Well, the decision has been made. We will be offering two courses at the February 27th Rally Point: A standard chip-timed 5K for all you serious runners and walkers, and a color run for anyone who wants to just come out, run, and have a great time. It's going to be an epic day.

ATTENTION WALKERS, MEMBERS OF THE MILITARY, ROTC CADETS, and WOUNDED VETERANS: Based on a couple requests, we are adding three additional classes of participants for the 5K Run for Veterans - walkers, ruck-runners, and wounded veterans. Awards will be given for each category, so come out and support StandWatch.org!

Did you make a resolution to exercise more in 2016? If so, we have a great opportunity for you to test your progress while supporting a great cause. On February 27, 2016, StandWatch will be holding its first annual Rally Point 5K Run/Walk at Valley Park in Hurricane, WV.  Each participant’s entrance fee will be used to provide care to a veteran needing medical assistance. It’s a one for one proposition; one runner helps one veteran’s family. So, the more people we get on the course, the more veterans we can help.
