Course

The 2nd Annual KT 50K/10K trail run has something for everyone. It is one of the only one way trail runs around, if not the only one in the Tri-State. The first year race we had runners from over 20 different states. The KT runs through 3 counties in WV, which many parts are old bison and Indian trails. It began in 1962 from one scouts dream of connecting these trails and creating a journey, it has been maintained by the scouts since. This race has a variety of terrain for every trail runner, it is mainly made up of 26 miles of single track trails and around 5 miles of country dirt roads. The 50k race will be ran in reverse direction from Fraziers bottom to Ona, WV and finish at the boyscout camp arrowhead. The 10K will start near the new bridge at Linville Drive, just off of Rt.60 and will run just under a mile until the trail head of the KT and end at the Boyscout Camp Arrowhead. With the exception of public roads, the trail is located in its entirety on private property and without the cooperation of these land owners there would be no Kanawha Trace. All proceeds go to Cabell Huntington Children's Hospital and the local Boyscout troops. So come enjoy the ridges, meadows, creeks, waterfalls, tunnels, and much more. Entry Fees

Online Registration at: http://www.wvmtr.org/events/kanawha-trace-trail-runs/ -Entry fee for the KT50K is $65 if postmarked by 7/08/12 and $85 thereafter. KT50K registration will close on 7/22/11. NorthFace Drifit Tech shirts for this race is in men’s and women’s sizing. -Entry fee for the KT10K is $25. Same day registration is $30 and will not be guarantee transportation shuttle to the start. NorthFace Drifit Tech shirts for this race is in men's and women's sizing. -Entry fee for Kids run is Free. Run will take place on Friday, July 27, 2011. Kids Registration will start at 4:30. Refunds: For the 50k race only, an entry refund minus $10 may be requested up to 6/30/12. No refunds after that date. There are no refunds for the 10k. Packet Pick-up: Packets will be available for pick-up between 5:30 and 9:00PM at the Pre-Race Pasta Dinner located at the Dining Hall at Boy Scout Camp.

Age Groups

New for 2012 - Chip timing for 50K/10K - Port-a-Potty’s at the Starting line. - Two new foot bridges built at Cabell Creek and Bear Hollow. - KT markings on road/trail, over 1,000 new ground markings- More volunteers at crucial transition areas. - Ribbion hanging throughout the trail for easier navigation, along with normal KT marking on every other tree and new ground markings. - Finish line will finish in the amplitheater - 50K finishers will receive a special Boyscout KT medal designed only for the race.

Awards

50K Awards and Prizes Awards will be presented to the Top Five Overall Male and Female finishers, the 1st Place Masters 40-49, 1st Place Grand Masters 50-59, and 1st Place Super Masters 60 and over for both Male and Female. No duplicate awards. Awards and door prize drawings will start at? 10K Awards and Prizes Awards will be presented to the Top Three Overall Male and Female, also Top Three Overall Male and Female in each age division.
