Course

The West Virginia 5K Championship is a fast 5K loop course that circles the downtown Huntington area. The race course will close at 9 AM, at which time runners still on the course will be asked by Huntington Police to move off the road pavement and onto the sidewalks. The start and finish line will both be on Veteran's Memorial Blvd. The start will take the runners west on Veteran's Memorial Blvd approximately 0.6 mile before turning left on 1st St. where they will head South for two blocks before turning left again on 5th Ave. They will travel almost 1.5 miles down 5th Ave. before turning left on Hal Greer Blvd. Two blocks on Hal Greer then the runners will turn left on 3rd Ave where they are a little more than half of a mile away from the finish line. The runners will run on 3rd Ave while going onto Veteran's Memorial Blvd where there is a slight downhill to the finish!

Entry Fees for the 2012 WV 5K Championship: Pre-Registration before June 7: $20 Pre-Registration after June 7 and at running expo: $25 (Must Register by June 17 to receive a T-Shirt, T-Shirts will NOT be guaranteed for entries received after June 17, 2011) Race Day Registration: $30 **Entry Fees are non-refundable

Age Groups

You are automatically placed in the open division by age unless you choose a specific division. Awards go to the top three male and female winners in each age group: 10 and under 11-14 15-18 19-24 25-29 30-34 35-39 40-44 45-49 50-54 55-59 60-65 66+

Top 3 Overall Male / Female 1st Place - $300 2nd Place - $200 3rd Place - $100 Age Group Awards 1st Place in Each Age Group: $50 2nd Place in Each Open Division Age Group: $ 25 (Money awards will not be handed out to age groups under 18) 1st West Virginian to Finish in each age group receives a special award!

Packet Pickup: The packet pickup will be at the Pullman Plaza Hotel on Friday June 22, 2012 between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Due the to large amount of people who are registered, we highly encourage people to pick up their packets the evening before the race! Entry Cancellation and Substitution Policies Team Competition: Corporate Cup – Which business/organization has the fittest/fastest runners in the area? Top 5 from a Team will be scored for the Corporate Cup. The scoring will be based on places, see Cross Country Team Scoring. Runners must acknowledge which Team that they are competing for when they register for the race. (No race day team entry, you may enter as an individual on race day, but not associated with a team) Uniform Cup - Are you a man/woman in uniform (Firefighter, Police, Military, etc.)? Let’s get together and see who is the fastest! Top 5 from a Team will be scored for the Uniform Cup. The scoring will be based on places, see Cross Country Team Scoring. Runners must acknowledge which Team that they are competing for when they register for the race. (No race day team entry, you may enter as an individual on race day, but not associated with a team) Prayer Cup – Who has the most Divine Intervention to get them to the finish line first? (Religious Affiliation) Top 5 from a Team will be scored for the Prayer Cup. The scoring will be based on places, see Cross Country Team Scoring. Runners must acknowledge which Team that they are competing for when they register for the race. (No race day team entry, you may enter as an individual on race day, but not associated with a team) WV 5K Championship reserves the right‚ in the event of an emergency‚ inclement weather conditions‚ or natural disaster‚ to cancel the event or to start at a later time as WV 5K Championship otherwise determines in its sole discretion. In the event of cancellation‚ WV 5K Championship does not guarantee refund of entry fees.
