Course

REGISTRATION AT 7 AM, RUN/WALK AT 8 AM. The race will start and finish at Western High School. The course is a mosty flat, rolling course around the Western (Latham) School District Campus, beginning and ending in the parking lot at the back of the school. Course will be marked. The 2023/2024 course will be repeated. Course maps available at registration tent.

Entry Fees

Entry into the walking or running category will be $25.00 if registered by 11:59 PM on June 30, 2025 and will guarantee a shirt to be picked up the morning of the race during registration. All registrations beginning at 12:00 AM on July 1, 2024 will be $30 but will not be guaranteed a shirt race morning, however, they will receive one at a later time. All registered runners/walkers receive a shirt and swag bag with their registration.

Our overall winners for the RUN will include top THREE MALE and top THREE FEMALE.

Our overall winners for the WALK will include top THREE MALE and top THREE FEMALE walkers.

Everyone who completes the course and crosses the finish line will receive a finisher's medal as they cross the finish line.

Charity Information

Staff Sergeant Brandon C. Franzen was a 12 year Veteran of the United States Army. On July 17, 2019, at only 34 years old, surrounded by his family and close friends, he lost a hard battle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In 2020, the Brandon C. Franzen Memorial 5k Run/Walk held its first annual 5k and managed, in the midst of a pandemic, to raise over $4,000 for Operation Untiltheresnone: No Buddy Fights Alone and Dress, Right, Dress, Inc. in the effort to end Veteran suicide related to PTSD. I am proud to announce that all proceeds from the Brandon C. Franzen Memorial 5k Run/Walk are donated to help end Veteran Suicide related to PTSD. My organization hopes, with a lot of hard work, to surpass the amount raised in previous years.  We have set a goal to get 200 registrations and raise $5,000 in 2025.  Let us work together to lower and eliminate the amount of Veteran suicides related to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The fight doesn't end when our soldiers come home.

More Information

Registration will take place the morning of July 19, 2025 at 7 AM. Registration will end before the start of the race, promptly at 8:00 AM. Runners will be in front with walkers following. All participants are welcome, but not required, to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to Pike County Outreach for those in need. We highly encourage you to help us donated to the largest food pantry in southern Ohio.

We will also have a silent auction, with bidding starting at 7:00 AM, and ending before the conclusion of the event. The announcement of the auction winners signals the end of the 5k event.
