Pump & Run Event Description

Test your strength and endurance with our Pump & Run challenge! This unique event combines a 5K (3.1 mile) run with an optional weightlifting component for those looking to push their limits even further.

The 5K course takes you through the Maulsby Cove neighborhood on a paved, double-loop route, starting and finishing at the Buzz Henderson Center.

Optional Weightlifting Challenge: Before the race, participants can complete a bench press challenge**. Based on your age and weight category, lift a percentage of your body weight to reduce your final race time! The more reps you complete, the bigger the time deduction on your run.  Those who choose to and the "Pump" to their Run must complete the lifting portion of the event on Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Buzz Henderson Center upper-level strength training room. Times will be announced.

Whether you're here for the run, the lift, or both, this event is perfect for fitness enthusiasts of all levels. Sign up today and see how strong and fast you can go!

**Lifting requirements will be posted soon!

More Information

What is a Pump & Run Event?

A Pump & Run event is a unique combination of strength and endurance, offering participants the chance to test both their running speed and their lifting power! Here’s how it works:

  1. Weightlifting Challenge (Optional): Participants start by completing a bench press challenge before the run. You’ll lift a percentage of your body weight based on your age and gender category. The more reps you perform, the greater the time deduction from your final run score.

  2. The 5K Run: After the lifting portion, participants take on a 5K race (3.1 miles). Your total time will be calculated based on how fast you complete the run, with time deductions awarded for each successful lift.

Pump & Run events are a great way to combine two aspects of fitness into one fun challenge. You can lift, run, or do both—whatever suits your goals! Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just looking for a fun way to compete, the Pump & Run format offers something for everyone.
